FEATURESFull of charm of early Seiko digital

This is Seiko's early digital model, the A031, released in 1977.
This is one of the earliest models to feature an alarm function on a digital clock.
Unlike today's cheap digital watches, the high quality of the design and exterior is what makes Seiko's early digital watches so appealing.
Approximately 45 years have passed since its release, but perhaps because it is well made, it feels like it will be usable for another 50 years.

The side is a button instead of a crown

What is attached to the right side is a button rather than a crown, but the fact that you can set the time by pulling the button is interesting as it seems to follow the style of analog watches.
By the way, if you push the button on the right side and then pull it, it will go into alarm set mode.

Not only the A031, but all early digital watches before a general operating method was established, the operation is unique and completely different depending on the model, so it is often difficult to set the time after replacing the battery.
By the way, what was difficult with A031 was how to clear the alarm time, which is to "long press" the left button when in alarm set mode.
I'm writing it here so I don't forget.
I tried various other operations, but I still don't know how to stop the "beep" sound every hour on the hour...
If anyone knows, please let me know.

Date display also possible

The bean ball is also relatively bright.

【postscript】
I finally figured out how to stop the beeping sound every hour on the hour.
The time signal would sound when the upper right corner of the LCD displayed seconds, but would not sound when it displayed days.
It's a simple thing if you ask me, but I never noticed it until now...
