Citizen's first liquid crystal digital watch, the Quartz Liquid Crystal, was released by Citizen in 1974.
Although it is the first model of the "Crystron" series, "CRYSTRON" is not displayed at all.
With a release price of 98,000 yen, it seemed to be an ultra-luxury watch at the time of its release.
Both the module and the exterior are built to a degree that is unimaginable by the standards of modern digital watches, and you can feel the enthusiasm that Citizen put into their digital watches at the time.
Among the earliest digital watches, there was a model that followed the trend of analog watches and set the time with a crown, and this model is one of those "crown digital watches."
Pull the crown one step and turn it towards you to set the date, and turn it towards the back to set the day of the week.
Similarly, pull the crown two steps and turn it towards you to set the hours, and turn it towards the back to set the minutes.
Rather than "turning" the crown, it stops with a click at about 45 degrees toward the front and back.
When setting the "time", the "date" and "day of the week" will advance one step each time the clock passes 24 hours, so if you try to set the "date" first and then the "time," you will run into trouble.
Please note that the button on the bottom left only functions to reset the seconds.

In the 1970s, the lifespan of an LCD was thought to be around 3 to 5 years, and this model has a function to turn off the LCD display in order to extend the lifespan of the LCD.
If you turn the crown back in the normal position, the LCD display will turn off.
Of course, the time will proceed as usual!

This model has three types of dial colors around the LCD: "gray", "green" and "sky blue" of which the "sky blue" pictured is the rarest.
I love this model so much that I have it in all three colors.
