Since this model is even older than the CRYSTRON LC ALARM (released in 1976) that I introduced earlier, it features a 4-digit display and no alarm function, making it an even simpler model.
The only functions of this model are "time display (12-hour system only)" and "second display."
Not only does it have an alarm function and light, but it also cannot display the date.

As you can see, it is an extremely simple LCD screen, and the number of segments (the number of elements required to control the LCD display) is 23, the smallest number on a digital watch.
(7 segments x 3 (hours: minutes) + 1 (tens place: 1 only) + 1 (colon))
Since 24-hour display is not possible, the tens digit can only be "hidden" or "1" (= number of segments 1*).

*I'm sorry to be so detailed, but at first glance the shape of the tens digit segment in the photo above looks the same as the ones digit, but it is actually one segment with the top and bottom connected.(Because there is no need to separate)

All models that do not have a 24-hour display use a unique method to distinguish between AM and PM, with the colon (:) between "hour" and "minute" lit on only one side (→ CITIZEN CRYSTRON LC ALARM), AM is a white circle, PM is a black circle (→ SEIKO QUARTZ 0531), but this model does not have a date display or an alarm function, so there is no need to distinguish between AM and PM.

The biggest feature of this model is its "design," which more than makes up for the "lack of functions" mentioned above.
Nowadays, it's hard to imagine seriously designing a model with functions that are less than that of a 100-yen watch (and made entirely of stainless steel!).
It would be a bit of an exaggeration to say that this model evokes the "seriousness" and "passion" toward the new creation of digital wristwatches that took place over 45 years ago, at the dawn of digital wristwatches.

To be honest, we live in a world where you can make do with a smartphone even if you don't have a digital watch, but precisely because we live in such an era, if we release an all-stainless steel digital watch model that has been stripped down to the bare minimum, is solidly built, and has been carefully designed down to the last detail, I think it would sell well even at a reasonable price.At least I buy it.
